Three persons were dead while 68 others sustained injuries following a collision between a bus and a truck in Atimonan, Quezon on Monday.
Quezon police director Col. Joseph Arguelles said in a police report that the accident occurred after the bus driver, identified as Maximo Leoriego, lost control of the vehicle while traversing a diversion road in Barangay Sta. Catalina.
The bus was bound for Bicol while the truck was headed to Manila. According to its driver, the bus lost its brakes.
Fatalities were identified as Benedict Belencio, 29, and his companion Michael Sy, 28.
A parallel investigation is being conducted by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
