The Quezon City Police District will implement a traffic rerouting scheme in the vicinity of the House of Representatives Complex for President Rodrigo Duterte’s fourth State of the Nation Address on July 22.

The public is advised that illegally parked vehicles will be towed along the stretch of the northbound and southbound sections of Commonwealth Avenue from Quezon Memorial Circle/Philcoa to Fairview starting 12:01 a.m. on July 22. The northbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue will be partially closed from Home Depot to the Sandiganbayan U-turn slot while motorists can still use the southbound lanes.

The eastbound lane IBP Road from Filinvest 1 all the way to Sinagtala will be closed to motorists in anticipation of several protest activities.

Beginning 6 a.m., motorists going to Fairview from the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) can take the zipper lane at the island breaker in front of the Home Depot U-turn slot to take the inner lanes. The endpoint of the zipper lane will be at the island breaker of Sandiganbayan’s U-turn slot. Motorists utilizing the southbound lane from Fairview to QMC will not be affected.

By 2:30 p.m., light vehicles coming from QMC going to Fairview may utilize the North Avenue then make a right turn to Mindanao Avenue going to Old Sauyo Road then make a left turn heading to Chestnut Street to cross through Dahlia Street. From there they can make a left turn to Fairlane Street to exit towards Commonwealth Avenue.

Heavy vehicles are advised to take Commonwealth Avenue.

Light vehicles coming from Fairview to QMC may turn right to Fairlane Street then right to Dahlia Street going to Chestnut Street heading towards to Old Sauyo Road to make a right turn to Mindanao Avenue. Motorists may take a U-turn at the corner of Quirino Highway heading to Mindanao Avenue then make a left turn to North Avenue going to QMC.

Heavy vehicles are also advised to take Commonwealth Avenue.

At 4 p.m., an entire section of the IBP Road may be locked down. Should this happen, all light vehicles may take the alternate route from QMC to Filinvest 1 and 2, Brgy. Bagong Silangan, while motorists who will utilize some streets in Brgy. Batasan Hills should take the zipper lane at the island breaker in front of Home Depot U-turn slot to take inner lanes. The end of the inner lane will be at the breaker of Sandiganbayan U-turn slot, then right turn on Litex Payatas Road, right turn on Abris St., right turn on Bougainvillea St., right turn to Lower Jasmin St., right turn to Ilang Ilang St., left turn to Santan St., left to Sampaguita St., left turn to Violago Road and another right turn to enter Gate 3 of Filinvest 2, to Brgy. Bagong Silangan; just follow Violago Road.

According to the traffic rerouting scheme, motorists who will utilize Filinvest 1 should coordinate with Filinvest 2 before passing through its subdivision to reach the Batasan-San Mateo Road. This leads to Kagawad Street, then motorists can make a right turn to Resolution Street heading to Senatorial Street then to Sinagtala Street before making a left turn to Masbate or Cotabato Street heading towards Filinvest 1 Road leading to the subdivision.

Meanwhile, light vehicles going to Filinvest 2, San Mateo Rizal, and Marikina City make take the alternate route from Commonwealth-Sandigan then make a right turn to Sinagtala Streen and right turn on Senatorial Street, left turn on Resolution Streen, another left turn on Kagawad Road then right turn on Batasan San Mateo Road.

By 6 p.m. after the SONA, only VIPs exiting from Southgate of the House of Representatives going to Commonwealth Avenue are allowed to take the westbound lane of IBP Road heading towards the Sandiganbayan underpass. The westbound lane from Litex to the House of Representatives’ south gate will remain closed until further notice, the QCPD said.

In a statement, QCPD Director, Police Brigadier General Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. said that they are appealing for the understanding and patience of both the riding public and motorists who will be affected by the heavy traffic caused by the rerouting scheme.

“The rerouting advisory may help motorists to find or take alternative routes. It would also be best advised for those who have no much important transaction to just stay home, if possible until after the SONA,” Esquivel declared.
