Taguig, Commonwealth U-turn slots relocated this weekend

Two U-turn slots on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and C5 Road-South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) will be moved this weekend, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In a statement, MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia said that the U-turn slot in front of CW Home Depot in Commonwealth will be relocated to Tandang Sora and Luzon flyover at 12 a.m. on June 30. On the same day, the U-turn slot of Don Antonio will also be opened for light vehicles.

The relocation is in preparation for the construction of the tunnel guide way for MRT-7 and for President Duterte’s fourth State of the National Address in July. Garcia said that about 10,000 vehicles would be affected by the relocation of the U-turn slot.

Meanwhile, the U-turn slot before the ramp and tollgate of C5-SLEX will be moved to the front of the Heritage Park Gate Mortuary in Taguig City on June 29.

The scheduled relocation is in anticipation of the construction of the C5 Cavitex flyover’s ramp along SLEX which will link the existing C5 Road in Taguig and C5 Extension of the cities of Pasay and Taguig.

“The flyover would cut the travel time from C5 Road going to southern areas in the metro like Las Piñas and Parañaque. But there is a need to build a ramp before the flyover could be opened,” Garcia said.

It is estimated that more than 8,000 vehicles traversing Bonifacio Global City and Kalayaan and another 2,000 motorists cruising along SLEX would be affected by the relocation.
