6 injured in three-vehicle collision on Marcos Highway

Six people were hurt in a three-vehicle collision on Marcos Highway on Monday.

According to the Interagency Council for Traffic (I-ACT), the incident occurred when a tricycle, which is prohibited from traversing major thoroughfares, counter-flowed at a U-turn slot, colliding with a Toyota Avanza while another vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage, in turn hit the back of the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

The impact of the collision then sent the MPV against the concrete barrier while the tricycle fell on its side in the middle of the road.

Six passengers who were injured in the incident were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Mirage, on the other hand, did not sustain any injuries.

Aside from providing medical treatment to the injured passengers, the elements of I-ACT also managed the flow of traffic in the area.

I-ACT chairman Manuel Gonzales said that motorists should obey traffic rules for everyone’s safety.

“It is imperative that drivers follow the rule of the road for the safety of all. To be behind the wheel is to be in charge of the lives of those in the vehicle with you, and other drivers traversing the same road,” Gonzales said.
