Addressing consumer concerns about higher prices resulting from the safeguard duties on imported automobiles, Chery Auto Philippines has announced the new prices for its line of Tiggo crossovers and SUVs.

“In compliance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Department Administrative Order (DAO) imposing a provisional safeguard tariff on certain imported passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, Chery Auto Philippines will be adjusting its prices accordingly,” announced Rommel Sytin, Chery Auto Philippines President.

The DTI ordered the imposition of a provisional safeguard measure on cars and LCVs after it found higher vehicle imports are causing serious injury to the domestic motor vehicle manufacturing industry in its evaluation of the petition filed by the Philippine Metalworkers’ Alliance.

Under the Safeguard Measures Act, the government can impose safeguard measures in the form of tariffs to provide relief to the local industry when there is serious threat or injury from increased imports of like products.

As specified by the new ruling, a safeguard tariff amounting to P78,400 (P70,000 + VAT) will be collected from each Tiggo passenger car model.

The new prices of the Chery Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5x, Tiggo 7, and Tiggo 8 are as follows:

Chery Auto PH remains committed to delivering safe, secure, and value-added mobility solutions to the public while helping the country achieve its economic goals, particularly in these challenging times.

Last month, Chery Auto Philippines displayed its growing momentum in the local automotive market by exceeding its January sales targets. The positive result came from a combination of factors led by the growing awareness of the new brand and the extraordinary value from its feature-packed crossovers.

Chery Auto Philippines boasts of its industry-leading warranty and PMS programs: a10-year/1 million-km engine warranty, a 5-year general warranty, and a FREE full preventive maintenance service (PMS) for 3 years.

The stylish and feature-packed Tiggo 7 was just introduced last January 27, but quickly sold out its initial batch within 30 days from launch. The number of deposits and pre-orders for the upcoming new shipment, expected to arrive this March, is fast growing.

Other factors that contributed to the strong sales are the attractive easy-on-the-budget financing packages given support by Chery’s bank partners, the availability of Chery’s EC Mobile Home Service, and the fast-growing nationwide network of Chery dealers, which now total 23 dealerships.

Starting the Chery PH lineup is the entry-level yet feature-rich Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover, which is now available in head-turning two-tone colors with black roof and pillars. The Tiggo 2 is powered by a Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine and comes in manual and automatic variants.

One level higher is the higher-spec’d Tiggo 5x subcompact crossover which shares the Tiggo 2’s drivetrain and also comes in manual and automatic  versions. The fully loaded (with sunroof and a generous array of comfort and convenience features).

One size higher is the all-new compact Tiggo 7 Pro, powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine boasting 145hp and 210Nm of torque and a completely new 9-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Surprising new car buyers with its premium build quality and luxury car features is the midsize 7-seater Tiggo 8. It also has a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and automatic transmission. The Chery Tiggo 8 is unique among the many car models in the market with its Chery Smartwatch Key that functions like a fitness tracker but also lets you start the engine and aircon or open the windows or tailgate, among many other functions.

Equally compelling reasons to buy a Chery is the company’s EC Mobile Home Service, which enables a fully trained and health protocol-compliant service crew to perform maintenance and repairs on any Chery model in the comfort and safety of your own home — much appreciated in this time of pandemic.

Another useful tool in this time of social distancing is the Chery Auto PH App, which works with both Apple and Android phones. The Chery Auto PH app functions as a digital showroom where customers can check out Chery’s vehicle models and their specs, see the list of all Chery dealerships nationwide, request and schedule a test drive, book an appointment for car maintenance and repair, order spare parts, inquire about specific Chery models, and request for a quotation for the Chery model they are interested in. The Chery Auto PH App also has a rewards program where users earn points for using the app to purchase a vehicle, refer a friend and schedule a service.
