BMW Philippines will be holding its annual ‘BMW Joyfest’ – a festive sales event highly anticipated for its heavily discounted cars on offer – this coming weekend, February 21-23, at the Activity Center of Bonifacio Global City in Taguig (specifically in the open area between Krispy Kreme and Seattle’s Best).
The event will also double as the public launch of the latest BMW 1 Series – now carrying a new platform and with it, even greater versatility – and the facelifted version of its highly successful sports activity vehicle, the X1. Guests attending the event will also be able to view and inspect any of BMW’s other iconic cars, including the ever-popular 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, and the BMW X2.
Moreover, there will be many promotions on site for the purchase of BMW Lifestyle merchandise, and the opportunity for visitors to test drive select models in the BMW range.
Another big surprise for BMW customers at the event is the limited-time opportunity to purchase an additional 3 years of warranty for BMW vehicles that were purchased with the previous 2-year warranty, provided that their vehicles have registered less than 200,000 km in mileage, and that their previous 2-year warranty is already expiring within a month’s time. Such purchase of extended warranty would bring the total existing warranty to a maximum of 5 years.
If you recall, older cars were previously sold with 2-year warranties. But BMW Philippines thought of helping to bring down the cost of customer ownership by offering this option to avail of a full 5-year warranty (in total), instead.
Of course, this is with the assumption that the qualifying cars have been properly driven and that the preventive maintenance services have been carried out in full, within the intervals of time specified by BMW.
“It’s basically a brand-building activity for customer retention,” explained SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation President, Spencer Yu. Adding that, “As the first to introduce the longest and most comprehensive warranty package in the premium car segment, BMW affirms its commitment to the discerning market and their vehicles. We want all BMW owners in the Philippines to know that we stand by our products and are always willing to make sure that we keep their cars in perfect condition for many years to come.”
The said warranty will also include membership to the lauded BMW Assistance Program, which through its partner, IBERO Asistencia, promises to provide emergency roadside assistance when it is needed, any time of the day, 365 days a year. Coverage of the program includes all major cities nationwide.
The move to offer an option for customers to purchase extended warranty came about after the company had gathered data from a customer feedback mechanism which revealed that many existing BMW customers in the Philippines feel that the maintenance of a BMW vehicle is very expensive. Hence, the extended warranty program is meant to help mitigate these costs.
“And this is a BMW Factory Authorized Warranty,” pointed out Spencer. “This car program is supported by Germany. We don’t contract a local insurance company to do this kind of thing,” he remarked.
Spencer also shared that they’ve been encouraging their dealers to make special arrangements with banks wherein credit card purchases of this additional warranty may be paid via installment, with zero percent interest.
When asked about the car company’s latest objectives for 2020, Spencer declared that the next big thing for them was to further expand their dealer network and to take action to improve the customer experience. Furthermore, he explained that they would also like to improve customer touch points by enhancing their existing facilities. “Basically, we would like to improve the ownership experience and to bring it to the next level,” he said.
The 5-year total warranty covers all the major and minor parts that are necessary to keep the car properly running; but does not include normal wear and tear items such as brake pads, filters, and other consumables.
