DPWH completes construction of Sta. Monica-Lawton main bridge

Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar said that the Sta. Monica-Lawton main bridge is already finished and will be opened in 2021.

“We have completed the final pouring activities at the mid span. The 210-meter main superstructure that will connect across Pasig River the Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City is already completed”, Villar said.

The 440-meter Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge Project is a four lane bridge across the Pasig River connecting Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City.

“The BGC Ortigas Link Bridge Project is only one of 22 projects aimed at decongesting EDSA and C5. 2021 will be a game changer,” Villar added.

The DPWH said that the bridge, which is part of the EDSA Decongestion program, will also include a bicycle lane.

“This is the first walk through from BGC to Ortigas. We are confident that we will finish the entire structure by first quarter of 2021,” Villar noted.

The 1.367 kilometer Bonifacio Global City-Ortigas Center Link Road Project is part of the government’s Build, Build, Build program. It is seen to cut travel time between the business districts of Bonifacio Global City and Ortigas from one hour to just 12 minutes.

The project has the following components: the 440 meter Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge, 362 meter rehabilitation and widening of Brixton (corner Reliance Street) to Fairlane Street, and 565 meter Lawton Avenue – Global City Viaduct which will traverse Lawton Avenue to the entrance of BGC.
