As the Philippine automotive market gradually recovers from the unprecedented disruption caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Geely Philippines reported its highest monthly sales record since January 2020.
According to the latest reports by CAMPI and AVID, Geely Coolray emerged as the top selling among 5-seater sub-compact crossovers in June with 154 units sold. Meanwhile, Geely Philippines ranks 10th for the month of June with 184 units combined sales of Coolray and the recently launched Azkarra. Geely Philippines said that it has sold a total of 549 units during the first half of 2020.
In a statement, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) President & CEO Mikihisa Takayama said that the latest report “is definitely a very positive development as every auto brand try to bounce back during this post-ECQ period.”
“We are very delighted of this outcome since it is mainly driven by one model, the Coolray and only one showroom located in North Edsa,” Takayama said.
“We expect Geely sales to improve further as we open new dealership outlets and further complement our product line up this year.”, Takayama added.
SGAP sales performance of 184 units represents a 160% jump from its 70 units sales record in May.
