Geely donates 100,000 surgical masks for PH frontliners

True to its commitment to continuously support medical frontliners in battling the coronavirus pandemic, Geely Holding Group made another donation to the Philippines — this time 100,000 pieces of surgical masks. Last March, the company, through Li Shufu Charity Foundation, shipped 20,000 pieces of surgical masks to the Department of Health. This is an initial response to the country’s medical sector’s appeal for medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPEs), which were already running out as the number of Covid-19 cases rapidly increased.

With a theme “Mutual Assistance and Solidarity,” a ceremonial turnover of surgical mask donations to ASEAN countries was led by the China-ASEAN Entrepreneurs Association Preparatory Committee.

Geely Holding Group donated a total of 200,000 medical surgical masks amounting to about 4 million pesos to different countries in Asia like the Philippines, Malaysia, and Laos. Of the 200,000 pieces, 100,000 pieces were given to the Philippines.

Leaders of relevant organizations, consuls of several countries in Nanning, Guangxi Region, China where the ceremony was held, as well as representatives of various enterprises attended the event. Representatives from the ASEAN countries said that the PPEs are urgently needed in this time of pandemic. They also emphasized the important role that the PPEs will play in the fight against Covid-19 across the ASEAN countries. After the arrival of the said batch of surgical masks, the founding members of the federation of the 6 ASEAN countries will help with the delivery of the donations to the local government and relevant agencies.

Geely Automobile International Sales Company Deputy General Manager Jin Guangyu, said that Geely Automobile will continue to pay attention to the Covid-19 situation in the Philippines, cooperate with its local partners, and use Geely Automobile’s global resources to help in overcoming the pandemic. Meantime, amid the crisis, Geely Group underscored its vow to focus on providing customers with safe and healthy cars.

Last February, Geely Automobile invested 370 million RMB (around USD 53 million) for the development of healthy cars. In the same month, Geely successfully produced the first car-level CN95 air filter. Following this development, many models of Geely have been equipped with CN95 filter elements such as the Geely Coolray and the Azkarra which are currently being sold in the Philippines.
