Gone in 14 seconds: Brazen motorcycle rider breaks car window to steal valuables

A footage of a brazen motorcycle rider breaking into a parked car and stealing the owner’s personal belongings is now making rounds on social media.

In a closed-circuit television footage, a masked rider can be seen approaching a parked vehicle in broad daylight. After a few moments, the rider proceeded with the heist and smashed the passenger window to get the valuables inside. It only took him 14 seconds. He then immediately hopped onto his motorcycle to escape the area.

The clip has gone viral not just because of the audacious act, but also because of a Grab delivery box that can be seen on the rear part of the crook’s motorcycle.

In a statement, Grab Philippines said that they are aware of the incident. However, the ride-hailing firm said that they have yet to confirm the identity of the culprit.

“We are aware of a video involving a motorcycle rider breaking into a parked car. As the rider’s vehicle did not have a plate and as he was wearing a face cover at the time of the incident, we are unable to confirm the identity of the rider and verify his registration as a Grab delivery-partner at this stage,” it said.

Grab Philippines said that the firm adopts a strict screening process which involves the submission of NBI clearance, police or barangay clearance, drug test results as well as motorcycle registration.

“Grab does not condone such behavior. We stand ready to assist the authorities with their investigations. Should the offender be identified as a Grab partner, we will not hesitate to take appropriate actions to maintain the safety and reliability of our platform,” it said.
