A car operated by transport network company Grab Philippines caused heavy traffic after being sideswiped  by a passenger bus near the intersection of EDSA and McKinley Road in Makati City last Saturday.

The car, a red Toyota Vios with conduction sticker VR-1114, was trying to turn left to McKinley Road, near the yellow box at the intersection of the said road and EDSA, despite a red light preventing, according to a report from the Makati City police’s vehicular traffic investigation unit.

The Pascual Liner bus with plate number ACC-9345, driven by Rodelino Macaalay Taan, 26, was on rightmost northbound lane of EDSA.

The bus sideswiped the car driven by Rolando Dimayacyac Ramos, 38, who was ferrying his passenger and Chinese female Kang Hyerin, 26, causing the car to overturn.

The 6 p.m. incident caused congestion which lasted for an hour as emergency responders had to extract Ramos and Kang from the vehicle, said Edison Nebrija, head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) EDSA traffic and discipline zone.

In an interview with radio station dzBB yesterday, he reminded motorists not to disregard traffic signs.
