The ‘brokenhearted’ woman behind the viral clip personally went to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday after being summoned for failing to wear a helmet while on board a motorcycle.
According to the LTO, Assistant Regional Director Rox I. Verzosa III met with Rose Marie Tan and the motorcycle driver to explain their traffic violations.
After the meeting, the agency said that Tan agreed to be a road safety advocate while the driver of the motorcycle, identified as G. Reymundo Zamora, has been issued with a temporary operators permit for exceeding the number of passengers and for failing to provide protective helmets to his passengers.
Verzosa said that the agency is firm on upholding traffic rules against erring motorists in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
A video of Tan went viral on social media two weeks ago. The clip showed her and two of her companions singing while riding a motorcycle. However, all of them were not wearing helmets.
According to Section 3 of Republic Act No. 10054, “all motorcycle riders, including drivers and back riders, shall at all times wear standard protective motorcycle helmets while driving, whether long or short drives, in any type of road and highway.”
