The Land Transportation Office (LTO)’s central office as well as its licensing office in Quezon City will be closed starting 12 noon today until Friday after 12 of its employees yielded positive results during the rapid testing for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The agency said on Wednesday that it decided to suspend operations at two of its facilities in order to give way to disinfection activities to prevent the spread of the dreaded virus.

“The health and safety of our employees, as well as those of the public whom we are serving is important. We have suspended operations in order to make sure that the threat of spreading the coronavirus at our offices is contained. We are now conducting disinfection as well as further testing on all of our employees,” LTO chief assistant secretary Edgar Galvante said.

The LTO said that 12 out of the 100 employees who underwent rapid testing were found positive for the virus. These employees have undergone RT-PCR and are now awaiting results.

The LTO said that all employees at its Central Office as well as at its Quezon City Licensing Office were ordered to undergo test for COVID-19 tomorrow.

Operations at its two facilities will resume on Monday, June 22, 2020.
