MG PH reports positive performance in H1 2020

Despite the unprecedented situation caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCI) reported MG Philippines’ positive performance during the first half of 2020.

According to the company, MG Philippines experienced growth in its sales performance in H1 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. It said that from January to June this year, MG Philippines sold 1,801 vehicles, compared to the 1,784 units sold in H1 last year.

TCCI said that “the lion’s share belongs to the stylish, versatile and attainable MG ZS Crossover SUV – comprising 56% of MG Philippines’ total unit sales in H1 2020. But with growing market requirements expected in the second half of 2020, MG Philippines’ other offerings—including the spacious and feature-loaded MG 5 sedan, versatile RX5 SUV, and sporty MG 6 Fastback Sedan—are sure to address various customer needs.”

Following the increase of its clients, the company said that MG Philippines is focused on doing its part to “rekindle economic activity by easing the transportation requirements of the public.”

“We appreciate the strong reception and trust that the Philippine automotive market has shown to the MG brand. Our principals at SAIC Motor International (SMIL) and we at The Covenant Car Company, Inc. focused our efforts on a precise product portfolio and positioned our offers to be most beneficial to the local motoring market. We are glad the objectives were achieved, and are delighted to see more clients and their MG vehicles on the road,” Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines president and CEO Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla said.

Meanwhile, the company said that part of its strategy in strengthening its position in the local automotive market is increasing the number of dealerships in its roster. This includes a plat to open six additional dealerships before the end of 2020. In the first half of the year, the company had opened six dealerships namely MG Congressional, MG Sucat, MG Bacoor, MG Calasiao, MG Marilao, and MG Bohol. By the end of 2020, the company said that a total of 30 MG dealerships will be operational nationwide.

“It has been a very exciting 20 months of growth for the MG brand in the Philippines and we look forward to more opportunities to serve our clients. Acknowledging the evolving lifestyles of our motoring public as a result of the changes in our mobility dynamics and needs, we at MG will be firm in ensuring the quality of the ownership experience of our clients with focus on the safety and security of our MG community of dealer partners, stewards and guests,” Arcilla said.

Apart from expanding its dealerships, MG Philippines said that it continues with its Forward With All Front Liners sales promo, offering a zero-downpament offer or generous cash discounts on the MG 5 sedan, and a zero-downpayment offer with a three-month payment holiday scheme on the RX5 SUV.

MG Philippines has also launched its “innovative aftersales services relevant to the current COVID-19 landscape” which includes MG Online Garage and MG Online Chat service.

“The very positive response of the market strengthens our resolve to continue our efforts to introduce new models, communicate exciting offers, and to establish a dealer network that will provide an excellent ownership experience for our clients.” Arcilla said.
