MMDA issues traffic scheme in Balintawak Interchange

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that some lanes in Balintawak Interchange will be closed to traffic to give way to the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 project.

In an advisory, the MMDA said that one lane will be closed on the northbound lane of Balintawak towards North Luzon Expressway beginning tonight at 11 p.m. to give way to the construction work on the vertical bridge support under the EDSA Bridge that is part of the Skyway Stage 3 project.

The agency said that light vehicles going to NLEX and Monumento should take the Balintawak Interchange ramp going to Cubao then take the U-turn slot after Cloverleaf Market going to NLEX.

Two lanes will also be closed on EDSA Balintawak going to Cubao on Feb. 16 for the construction of the interconnection platform tower on top of the EDSA Bridge.

Light vehicles coming from Monumento thru EDSA may turn right to A. de Jesus street then left to C3 to destination.

Meanwhile, a lane of A. Bonifacio going to NLEX will remain passable to motorists as well as two lanes for Manila-bound vehicles between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Feb. 22 to 29. The MMDA said that girders will also be placed along the road.

Light vehicles going to NLEX and Monumento may take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Cubao and take the U-turn slot after Cloverleaf Market going to NLEX.

For vehicles going to Novaliches and NLEX, motorists may take the zipper lane at the left immediately before the construction site towards destination. Additionally, Manila/Caloocan-bound vehicles coming from NLEX may take the Balintawak Interchange Ramp going to Monumento via EDSA, then left to A. De Jesus St. then left to C3 to destination.

The MMDA said that the lane closures will be implemented until the completion of the construction on March 5.
