A new way to test drive at Nissan
Nissan Philippines, Inc., kicked off a new way to test drive highlighting their technological superiorities. The Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour 2.0 focuses on unique technologies in the Nissan Intelligent Mobility umbrella that makes driving more personal, empowering, and exhilarating.
Using projection mapping, interactive displays, and the Virtual Cube, Nissan showed off how their technologies can level up the driving experience making it easier, safer, and more convenient.
One highlight is Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor or AVM. Using four cameras located around the car, it gives a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the area surrounding the vehicle. This increases driver confidence when tackling tight spaces or even parking. What’s more, the high-quality camera and advanced image processing gives a clear view even in low-light conditions.
Then, there’s Intelligent Rear View Mirror or iRVM. Using a high-resolution camera mounted at the rear of the vehicle, it projects an unobstructed rearward view behind the vehicle even when fully-loaded. Plus, because it provides a wider field of view, it makes traditional obstructions such as C-pillars, a non-issue. It also provides a crisp image in a wide variety of weather conditions like rain, dawn, or dusk. It also reduces glare during sunrise or sunset or when being followed by a vehicle with strong headlights.
Finally, there’s the Blind Spot Indicators that use sensors to warn driver of objects at the flanks, preventing the occurrence of a crash, especially when overtaking.
The best news is that Nissan Philippines will be taking the NIM 2.0 on tour around the Philippines.
Mitsubishi: Highlighting the bestsellers
In a lead up to celebrating one million vehicles sold in the Philippines, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines highlighted its bestsellers: the Montero Sport, Xpander, and Strada.
The Montero Sport has always been Mitsubishi’s design and engineering innovator. The latest version boasts of the nameplate’s best-ever performance, comfort, and safety features.
The entire range is powered by the world’s first clean diesel engine equipped with MIVEC valve timing technology. Dubbed the 4N15, this 2.4-liter 4-cylinder is Euro 4 emissions-compliant while generating 181hp and 430Nm of torque. Mated to this engine is an 8-speed automatic with Sports mode. This ensures a sporty, pleasurable, and relaxed drive even at long distances. The M/T variant features a 6-speed manual.
Meanwhile, the Xpander is Mitsubishi’s entrant in the fastest-growing segment in the Philippines: the small seven-seat MPV category.
The overall exterior communicates an adventurous and futuristic style, with its seamless rounded body and fluid curvature. It flaunts the Dynamic Shield design concept outside while taking on the Japanese concept of hospitality or omotenashi, inside with comfortable seating for seven.
Delivering a great drive, the Xpander is powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with 105hp and 141Nm of torque. It strikes a good balance between performance and fuel economy, as observed by the Automotive Association of the Philippines where it achieved up to 22.94 km/L.
Finally, there’s the 2019 Strada. Considered as one of Mitsubishi’s most important models, it’s the product of 40 years of pickup truck heritage and expertise. The refreshed design communicates a powerful and reassuring sense of protection while inside, it has a cabin that flaunts enhanced robustness and functionality.
Like the Montero Sport, the new Strada is powered by the 2.4-liter MIVEC Clean Diesel engine making 181hp and 430Nm of torque. The ride is improved with the use of larger rear dampers while the brakes offer better bite thanks to the use of larger front discs and caliper pistons.
