New 2021 fully electric Porsche Taycan arrives in PH

In line with the model’s rollout in markets worldwide, the new 2021 Porsche Taycan is now available in Porsche Philippines showrooms, with the latest version arriving loaded with numerous features. Deliveries of the groundbreaking fully electric Taycan has surpassed forecasts, and the introduction of a new version is seen to further strengthen demand for this fascinating high-performance four-door sports car.

With the legendary Porsche 911’s classic rear-engine/rear-drive layout in mind, the new Taycan has a Permanent magnet Synchronous Motor (PSM) on the rear axle and continues to boast of acceleration and handling performance typical of Porsche sports cars.

Distinguishing the latest model are 20-inch Taycan Turbo Aero wheels and black anodized brake calipers. The sports car’s front apron, side sills and rear diffuser are finished in black. Fitted as standard are LED headlights, as well as six-piston brakes in front and four-piston brakes at the rear.

The new Taycan’s cabin now has a 4+1 seating layout. The car’s cockpit is defined by a 16.8-inch free-standing curved instrument cluster, a central 10.9-inch infotainment display, and another display for the front passenger—an optional equipment which Porsche Philippines ordered for the new Taycan. Also included among the numerous cabin features are comfort seats in front with 14-way power adjustment; Bose Surround Sound; four-zone climate control; Park Assist with a reverse camera; an ionizer to clean up the air in the cabin; ambient lighting; and Porsche Electric Sport Sound, which modulates the natural sound emitted by the car’s electric powertrain. Located in front and the rear of the Taycan are spacious luggage compartments.

Wrapping over these is a body marked by pure styling elements which retain the unmistakable Porsche design DNA. The Taycan has a low and wide front area with highly contoured fenders. Its silhouette is shaped by a sporty roof line sloping toward the rear. Highly sculpted side sections, a sleek cabin greenhouse, drawn-in C-pillars, and pronounced shoulders are also typical Porsche design cues that made it to the Taycan. Complementing the touches is the glass-look lettering for the Porsche logo on the rear light bar.

The PSM on the new Taycan’s rear axle gets a two-speed transmission and the Performance Battery. The Taycan’s powertrain operates on an 800-volt system structure instead of the usual 400 volts for electric cars, ensuring consistent high performance, short charging times, and less weight and space for the system’s cabling. In the new Taycan, the combination produces up to 408 PS, enabling the fully electric sports car to accelerate from a standing start to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 230 km/h.

With the 800-volt system, the latest Taycan can be charged from 5 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes when using a 175-kW DC charger. When fully charged, driving range can go as high up to 431 kilometers under ideal conditions (according to WLTP standards). Further helping the driving range is the Taycan’s aerodynamics, which allows for a slippery 0.22 coefficient of drag value.

Like all Taycan variants, the new model has two charging ports located in each of its front fenders. To be plugged into either of the ports is the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect, which is currently set up locally for up to 11 kW but in the future will be available for up to 22 kW of alternating current (AC). The port on the right fender can be used for direct current (DC) charging. Both charging ports are covered by electrically operated doors that slide open or close via a simple hand gesture, a special feature specified by Porsche Philippines.

Integrated into the new Taycan is the Porsche 4D Chassis Control that analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems in real time. The latest model is equipped with adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, which is supplemented by the Porsche Active Suspension Management, or PASM, electronic damper control system.
