Jimny joins World Car Garage circle

Suzuki announced that its Jimny SUV joins a group of World Car of The Year outright winners and finalists in the World Car Garage at the London Motor and Tech Show at ExCel.

To qualify for the initial World Urban Car judging process, vehicles had to be less than four meters long, suitable in design for everyday use in an urban environment, and also on sale across two Continents by the deadline of Spring 2019. At 3.64 metres in length, the Jimny easily qualifed and was shortlisted as a top-three finalist in both Urban and Design categories in March of this year.

Mike Rutherford, juror and co-chairman of the World Car Awards Programme said, “Once again, Suzuki is punching well above its weight in the World Car Awards. As the just-announced winner of the World Urban Car of the Year prize, the Jimny beat off stiff competition from its German and South Korean rivals and Suzuki is the only Japanese manufacturer to win a coveted World Car trophy in 2019. This should worry the larger, wealthier car companies of Japan.”

As our 80-plus jurors have decided and I have long suspected, Suzuki builds some of the finest small cars on the planet. Its worth noting that since 2017, Ignis, Swift and Jimny have all made it to final top three for World Urban Car and Suzuki is the only brand to achieve this status.”

The Jimny offers the latest in safety technology as standard with Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) Lane Departure Warning and Weaving Alert. Air conditioning, Auto Headlights with High Beam Assist, front foglamps and Bluetooth connectivity are also fitted as standard equipment.

Jimny is powered by a 101ps, 1.5-liter petrol engine and is fitted with All-Grip Pro selectable four-wheel drive with low transfer gear as standard equipment.
