Thirteen people lost their lives, including a bride-to-be, while 41 others were injured after a truck crashed into a tree in San Fernando, Camarines Sur on Saturday.
Investigation revealed that the passengers came from Barangay Pinamasagan for a pre-wedding ceremony to ask the hand of the bride in marriage, according to a report by The STAR.
As they were heading back to the hometown of the groom in San Joaquin, the vehicle developed engine trouble while it was cruising along a downhill road in Barangay Tagpocol at 5:20 p.m.
The driver then lost control of the wheel which eventually crashed into a tree. The vehicle then rolled over due to the impact.
Other fatalities were friends and relatives of the groom, who stayed behind for the second batch of passengers.
Those who were injured were rushed to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City.
