Drone footage courtesy of “infra documenter” dmitrivalencia captured the construction progress of the 10-kilometer Laguna segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
The Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.’s subsidiary MPCALA Holdings Inc. is aiming to open the Mamplasan to Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay segment of CALAX by the end of July, according to a report from The STAR.
The drone footage shows toll plazas are being constructed along Mamplasan and the interchange exit towards Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road.
The segment is part of the 45-kilometer CALAX toll road project that is seen to reduce traffic congestion along Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road, and also reduce travel time from Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) to South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from 1 hour and 30 minutes to 45 minutes.
The project is a four-lane toll road which begins from CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite and ends at the SLEX-Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna. It features eight interchanges and one main toll barrier.
Aside from that, CALAX also has a bridge component stretching 12,207 meters that includes 4,618 meters of viaduct.
CALAX is expected to be completed in 2021. – With reporting from Catherine Talavera/STAR
