Said to combine riding comfort, innovative technology, and elegant design, the Audi A6 Limousine was locally launched recently by Audi Philippines.
Touted to be the roomiest and widest in the “business class,” the A6 carries the German automobile manufacturer’s new design language expressed in its exquisite facade. The latest offering sports shorter overhangs, a taut roofline, distinctive lines, and edges that exemplify elegance. The front facia boasts Audi’s broad, low-set Singleframe grille along with powerfully drawn air inlets, matrix LED headlights, and daytime running lights that add sportiness.
The side sections have contours that expand across the top portion of the sheet metal body. The lower part, on the other hand, has prominent aerodynamic elements. The C-pillar of the A6 is flatter, while the whole window line is “more dynamic” than the previous generation. Meanwhile, the rear part of the A6 showcases Audi’s timeless design element, with a chrome strip that accentuates the sedan’s width and a linkage between the wedge-shaped rear lights.
At the heart of the all-new A6 is an award-winning 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder with mild hybrid technology. This is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, capable of providing 245hp and 370Nm of torque.
The power plant is complemented by improved wheel suspension which said to be made extensively from lightweight aluminum. Along with 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels, the A6 promises a smoother and more comfortable ride.
Meanwhile, the cabin exhibits Audi’s futuristic and minimalist take on design, such as the sleek instrument panel and a technical black-panel layout. It offers ample space for both the driver and front passenger, while the seats are said to be lighter than the previous iteration as they offer a “high level of comfort and good lateral support” made possible through the design of the backrest and seat cushion.
Three passengers can be seated at the back, whose backrests can also be optionally folded for more storage space. At the center of the driver’s console is a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit with high-resolution display controlled through the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel. Both the center console and the all-digital Multi Media Interface (MMI) touch response displays are slightly facing the driver.
The MMI is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering the driver enhanced connectivity inside the cabin. The 10.1-inch screen on the top becomes almost invisible along with the dark surface when turned off, while the 8.6-inch display below in the center tunnel can be used for the climate control, vehicle functions, and has text input capability.
Speaking exclusively to WHEELS.PH, Audi Philippines general sales manager Paolo Brambilla said that aside from the two-liter TFSI engine, they are also planning to bring in the two-liter TDI, as well as the three-liter variants of the Audi A6 next year.
“The Philippines is a very competitive market especially in the executive class. The Audi A6 directly competes with the BMW5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E Class, and the Lexus ES 350. Being the latest in its class, the technology that Audi has placed in the car even with the mild hybrid, the twin MMI touch system – (brings it to a) different tier,“ he added.
All Audi A6 units are manufactured in Germany and have a two-year with unlimited mileage warranty. The all-new Audi A6 Limousine is now available in all Audi showrooms in Greenhills, Global City, Alabang, and SM Seaside City Cebu. For more information, call 727-03-81 to 85.
