A potential opponent of Manny Pacquiao was seriously hurt after a high-speed vehicular accident in Dallas on Thursday.
According to a report by The Guardian, unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. got hurt while driving his white Ferrari on the northbound lane of Riverfront Boulevard near Interstate 80 before 3 a.m. on Thursday.
A CCTV video posted on Twitter by CBS news reporter J.D. Miles captured the moment Spence’s Ferrari figured in an accident.
The police said that the incident occurred when the American boxer’s Ferrari flipped multiple times after veering left over the center island. The 29-year-old boxer, who was not wearing a seatbelt, got ejected from his sports car during the vehicular crash.
Following the accident, Spence’s team said in a statement that the boxer is now in stable condition.
“Spence is awake and responding and his condition is listed as stable. He did not sustain any broken bones or fractures, but has some facial lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery.” Authorities said that they are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The undefeated boxer is eyeing a matchup against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in 2020.
“I want Manny Pacquiao and all of the top names in this division,” Spence had said in an AFP report.
