The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) formally opened the Daang Hari Intersection in Imus City, Cavite last Saturday.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the four-lane flyover in Barangay Anabu will serve as a solution to traffic along the Aguinaldo Highway-Daanghari Road intersection as well as nearby Anabu roads leading to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway.
“This is a vital project that will cut in half travel time of about 15 to 30 minutes from Daang-Hari Road – the main road to and from thickly populated Cavite and Metro Manila, going to Malagasang-Bucandala-Alapan Road,” Villar said.
He added that the newly completed flyover will have an impact on the government’s program to address air pollution by reducing the heavy traffic at the intersection. It is also expected to eliminate delays in terms of traffic movement and seen to increase motorists’ savings.
The construction of the flyover project started in March 2016 and was delayed by right-of-way issues. An accident in May 2018 also occurred during the construction, after an error happened on the part of the boom crane operator placing the girder or concrete beam on the flyover. It caused the collapse, and new girders needed to be fabricated.
