MMDA to investigate viral video of Kim Chiu

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that it will look into the video supposedly showing actress Kim Chiu dancing in the middle of EDSA.

The video, which made rounds on social media on Tuesday night, shows Chiu dancing beside her vehicle in the middle of a road. However, there are no indications that the video occurred on Metro Manila’s busiest highway.

Citing an ABS-CBN article, online entertainment hub Latest Chika reported that MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said that they will investigate the matter and summon the actress if the incident occurred on EDSA.

“We will verify if this video of the actress really happened in EDSA. If it did, we will summon/invite her to explain her side and from there we will act accordingly.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday morning, the 30-year-old actress branded the viral video as fake news.

DYOS KO. Please stop spreading FAKE NEWS,” Chiu said.

The actress clarified that that video was recorded at the parking lot of a restaurant and not on EDSA.

In 2018, a video of a woman doing the “Kiki dance” challenge along the EDSA-Kamuning flyover went viral on social media.

The MMDA said the dance challenge is strictly prohibited on major roads such as EDSA, C-5 Road and Commonwealth Avenue and on “mabuhay lanes” or alternate routes.
