MMDA to implement modified number coding scheme next week

The modified number coding scheme will be implemented in Metro Manila starting June 8, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Under the modified number coding system of the MMDA, all private vehicles with more than two passengers including the driver will be exempted from the scheme. The transport agency said that passengers should always wear face masks and observe proper physical distancing inside the vehicle.

Apart from that, private motor vehicles of medical frontliners such as doctors, nurses and other medical personnel are also excluded from the number coding policy.

Additionally, the transport agency also ordered operators of transport network vehicle service to put signages so that their drivers could easily be recognized as TNVS by traffic personnel.

The city government of Makati earlier implemented the modified number coding scheme on June 1.

Under the unified vehicular volume reduction program, vehicles with the following plates are restricted from plying major roads in Metro Manila: 1 and 2 on Mondays, 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, 5 and 6 on Wednesdays, 7 and 8 on Thursdays and 9 and 0 on Fridays.
