The Department of Transportation-Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (DOTr-LTFRB) allowed a total of 220 buses to operate in the newly-designated routes in order to provide transportation to commuters amid the implementation of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.
The DOTr said that a total of 116 bus units were deployed to ferry passengers from Monumento to Balagtas, 30 bus units from EDSA-Quezon Ave to Montalban, and 74 buses from Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Loop.
The bus units were deployed in the designated areas to ferry commuters affected by limited public transportation.
Under the more relaxed GCQ, buses and jeepneys are still prohibited from plying the roads. Only railways, bus augmentation, taxis, transport network vehicle services, point-to-point buses and bicycles are allowed amid the less strict GCQ. – Angie dela Cruz/PSN
