Travel time from Manila to La Union will be cut down to just three and a half hours once the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) is completed by July 15.
In a Facebook post, Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar said that the 88.85-kilometer toll road is expected to be completed by next month.
“Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway will be completed this July 15. Manila to La Union, 3.5 hours nalang!” Villar said.
In a previous report by BusinessWorld, DPWH “Build, Build, Build” Committee Chairperson Anna Mae Y. Lamentillo said that the that the 11.45-kilometer Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union segment of TPLEx is expected to “open this month.”
Lamentillo said that the formal opening of Segment 8 was supposed to happen in April but was delayed by the lockdown brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once completed, TPLEX will cut down travel time from Tarlac to Rosario, La Union from 3.5 hours to just an hour.
