Some traffic enforcers of Pasig City were issued with citation tickets after they were caught driving without licenses or with expired ones following a surprise inspection on Tuesday.
In a Facebook post, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said that upon inspection, some enforcers were caught with expired driver’s licenses while others don’t even have their licenses with them. Sotto said those who were apprehended were issued with tickets and got their vehicles impounded.
“Sa wikang Ingles, may tinatawag tayong “IMPUNITY” – ang kawalan ng pananagutan para sa mga taong nasa posisyon o kapangyarihan,” Sotto said.
“Hindi tayo papayag na may impunity sa ating mga ranggo. Kung nakagawian dati na exempted ang mga naka uniporme sa batas trapiko, babaguhin natin yan ngayon,” he added.
Sotto said that government personnel should have higher standards when it comes to following rules and regulations.
“Kung tutuusin, mas mataas nga dapat ang standards ng mga kawani ng pamahalaan. ‘Ika nga, alisin mo muna ang troso sa mata mo bago mo sitahin ang puwing sa mata ng iyong kapwa,” Sotto said.
