Province-bound passengers in Metro Manila urged to return home before MECQ takes effect

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has advised province-bound passengers in Metro Manila to immediately return to their homes today in order to avoid getting stranded following the government’s decision to revert Metro Manila to a stricter modified enhanced community quarantine.

“Nananawagan ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sa mga pasaherong nasa Metro Manila ngunit umuuwi sa mga kalapit probinsya na huwag nang mag-atubiling bumalik na sa kani-kanilang tirahan ngayong araw, 03 Agosto 2020, upang maiwasang maipit sa kalakhang Maynila bago ipatupad ang Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ),” the agency said.

The government has decided to revert the quarantine status of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal to MECQ following the medical community’s plea for a two-week “time out” amid the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019.

The agency reminded commuters that public transportation will only be allowed until midnight to pave the way for the implementation of the MECQ.

“Ipinapaalala ng LTFRB na hanggang mamayang hatinggabi na lamang papayagang bumiyahe ang mga Public Utility Vehicle (PUVs) upang makapagbiyahe ng mga mananakay,” it said.

Meanwhile, the LTFRB has reminded commuters to observe proper health protocols such as physical distancing and wearing of face masks in order to prevent the further spread of the virus.
