Cavitex’s innermost lane closed for three months

The innermost southbound lane of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) will be closed for three months to pave the way for the construction of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, according to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC).

The LRMC said that the lane near Parañaque bridge will be closed to motorists from September 15 to December 15 to give way to Maynilad’s pipe relocation works required for the construction relative to the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project.

“This is a follow-through of the test pit works (bridge and pipe inspection) which was conducted in the same area last May 2020,” it said in a statement.

“To date, the pre-cast yard and staging area have been completed. Bored piles or the deep foundational support are already built along the stretch up to Dr. Santos Station until Ninoy Aquino Avenue. Piers or the elevated structures are starting to be constructed along Ninoy Aquino Avenue as well. Jetty construction works along Paranaque river are almost halfway done, with bored piling works expected to begin soon in the same area,” the LRMC said.

Meanwhile, the Pacific Drive entry to CAVITEX is now open to vehicular traffic and is expected to serve up to 90,000 vehicles daily. The Cavite Infrastructure Corporation said that the opening of the Pacific Drive entry is part of the enhancement projects of the 14-kilometer expressway and will serve as an alternative route for motorists coming from Roxas Boulevard.
