The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will gradually close some U-turn slots on EDSA in order to improve the flow of traffic along the thoroughfare’s designated bus lanes.
In an interview over Super Radyo DZBB on Sunday, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said that some U-turn slots in the cities of Caloocan, Quezon, Makati and Pasay will be closed to vehicular traffic:
CALOOCAN CITY
- General Tinio U-turn slot
- De Jesus street-8th street left turning
- General Malvar U-turn slot
Pialago said that affected motorists are advised to make a u-turn at Monumento circle (northbound towards southbound) and Balintawak cloverleaf (southbound towards northbound going to their destination). Meanwhile, vehicles coming from NLEX may take A. De Jesus street towards A. Bonifacio Avenue then turn right C3 or Sgt. De Vera going to their destination
QUEZON CITY
- Balintawak market u-turn slot in front of BPI bank
- Kaingin Road U-tun slot in front of Nissan
- Congressional LRT station U-turn slot in front of Panorama
- Corregidor Intersection-Bansalangin U-turn slot
- U-turn slot in front of Quezon City Academy
- North Avenue U-turn slot before North Avenue station
MAKATI CITY
- Buendia U-turn slot under Kalayaan flyover
PASAY AREA
- P. Celle U-turn slot
- U-turn slot before Roxas Boulevard near Heritage Hotel
Pialago said that the agency will soon release a list of alternate routes that motorists can use in lieu of the U-turn slots that are set to be closed. The MMDA spokesperson also clarified that the closure will be gradual and may happen within two to three months.
“Siguro dalawang buwan, tatlong buwan bago yan tuluyan isara. Hindi po yan biglaan at hindi po sabay-sabay, gradual. Kasi naka-depende po tayo sa pagtatapos ng bus stops natin along EDSA,” Pialago said.
