A driver of a towing company was apprehended by police during an entrapment operation after extorting P10,000 from a dump truck driver in Makati City.
According to a police report, a dump truck, driven by Benjie Ardagon, suffered a flat tire along Osmeña Highway when the suspect, identified as Dominic Panayo and his accomplices suddenly appeared and towed the vehicle. The victim said that the suspects demanded P10,000 in exchange for his vehicle.
Ardagon then sought the help of the Makati City police after the suspects refused to release his vehicle.
The police then immediately conducted an entrapment operation and nabbed Panayo when he accepted the marked money.
Authorities recovered a kitchen knife and a piece of a caliber 40 mm ammunition from the suspect following his arrest.
Panayo is facing charges of robbery extortion, illegal possession of deadly weapon, resisting arrest and illegal possession of 40 mm ammunition.
A follow-up operation is in place to apprehend Panayo’s accomplices. – Ludy Bermudo/PSN
