MMDA chairman Danilo Lim passes away at 65

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Danilo Lim has passed away, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Lim passed away before 8 a.m. today. He was 65.

“MMDA Chair Lim served the Duterte Administration with professionalism, competence and integrity.  He would be dearly missed,” Roque said. “May the perpetual light shine upon him, and may his soul, through the mercy of the Almighty, rest in eternal peace.”

He is survived by his wife, Rep. Aloysia Tiongson-Lim and daughter Aika.

In a separate statement, the MMDA said Lim died due to cardiac arrest.

Lim said in a Facebook post last Dec. 29 that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Lim served as chairman of MMDA since 2017.
