Passengers of private vehicles must wear face masks – DOTr, DOH

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Friday that passengers of private vehicles must wear their face masks regardless if they come from the same household,

In a joint statement, the DOTr and DOH clarified that motorists who are driving alone need not wear their face masks. However, passengers of a private vehicle are mandated to wear face masks even if they are living in the same household. 

“Proper coordination shall be made with and between the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (IACT), Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), other law enforcement agencies, and local government traffic offices/units, concerning the proper implementation of the Resolution, and the imposition of appropriate fines and penalties for violations thereof, in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations,” it said.

The Land Transportation Office previously that there will be no apprehensions yet for violators of the face mask policy inside private vehicles.
