DPWH to open Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge on June 12

The Department of Public Works and Highways confirmed on Friday that the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge will be opened to motorists on June 12.

“As promised, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City leading to Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City will be connected to Pasig City/Mandaluyong City by the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge on the historic day our nation commemorates the 123rd Independence Day,” Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar said.

“With this bridge, Bonifacio Global City will be connected to Pasig City/Mandaluyong City by a travel time of 12 minutes,” Villar added.

The four-lane, 440-meter bridge across the Pasig River connecting the cities of Pasig and Makati is a major component of the Bonifacio Global City or BGC-Ortigas Center road link project

The infrastructure project also involves the rehabilitation and widening of Brixton to Fairlane Street in Pasig City as well as the construction of the 565-meter Lawton Avenue to BGC viaduct, which will traverse Lawton Avenue towards the entrance of BGC.

The entire 1.367-kilometer BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project is expected to be completed this 2021. Once finished, the infrastructure project is expected to reduce travel time between BGC and Ortigas Center from a one-hour trip to 12 minutes.
