Fifth-generation Range Rover arrives locally

Land Rover has a history that dates back to the ‘40s. And while the Defender arguably stands as its most iconic nameplate, the Range Rover full-size SUV has always been the automaker’s premiere offering since the ‘70s.

All British Cars, Inc., the official distributor of the Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines, brings in the fifth-generation Range Rover on local shores. The launch event saw members of the media in attendance, graced by the understated class of the revamped full-size SUV.

The 2023 Range Rover picks up where the fourth generation left off and improves upon its styling. More importantly, the all-new model adopts Land Rover’s interpretation of modern elegance, seen in the subtle and clean lines, for that almost concept car-like design.

Outside, your eyes are met with a bevy of LEDs, front and back, along with signature Range Rover elements, such as the side trims, short front overhang, and the blacked-out greenhouse for that floating roof effect. The HSE variant comes with 22-inch Style 7023 alloys, while the top-spec Autobiography wears the Style 1073, Diamond Turned with Gloss Dark Grey contrast wheels.

Step into the cabin of the Range Rover and you’ll be met by choice materials on virtually every part of the interior. Cabin lighting, Semi-Aniline leather seats, and three-zone climate control come standard, while the top-spec Autobiography gets extra settings for the heated and ventilated seats, as well as the illuminated aluminum treadplates, auto-folding loadspace cover, and four-zone climate control. The seats and headliner are also decorated by SV Bespoke accents, while the rear seats come in executive configuration.

For the infotainment system, the Range Rover is equipped with a Pivi Pro with a 13.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This system is partnered with a wireless device charging with a phone signal booster and Meridian 3D surround sound system. The driver will also enjoy the benefits of a head-up display.

In terms of safety, the 2023 Range Rover comes with adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist and steering assist, as well as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, front and rear sensors, and an around-view monitor.

Local powertrain choices include the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six D350 diesel mill that makes 350 metric horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. There’s also the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 gasoline engine that churns out up to 530hp and 750 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, those who want electrification added to the mix will enjoy the P440e plug-in hybrid system that produces a total output of 440hp and 620 Nm of torque.

These figures go to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel steering system is also standard across the range, along with electronic air suspension with Dynamic Response and electronic active differential with torque vectoring.

Available in HSE and Autobiography trims, the 2023 Range Rover models are highly customizable, with pricing that starts at P15.990-million.
