The legend returns: All-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L lands in Manila

Jeep Philippines ushers in a new era with the launch of its luxurious three-row SUV: the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Built on a brand-new architecture, it offers spacious seating for seven adults, while also breaking new ground in performance, comfort, functionality, and capability.

The 2023 Grand Cherokee L uses lightweight, high-strength aluminum in its construction keeping its weight down and fuel economy up. The front axle is bolted directly to the engine allowing for better management of NVH while also offering better driving dynamics thanks to a lower center of gravity. An all-around independent suspension with a front virtual ball joint improves control backed up by a carefully calibrated electric power steering system.

Under the hood is the tried-and-tested 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that delivers 282hp and 344Nm of torque—enough to satisfy any requirement on or off the pavement. New on the Grand Cherokee L is a front-axle disconnect. If the vehicle senses that road conditions do not require all-wheel drive, the front-axle disconnect automatically places the Grand Cherokee L in two-wheel drive, reducing drag on the driveline and improving fuel economy. Together with the TorqueFlight 8-speed automatic, the maximum cruising range on a tank of gas is close to 800 kilometers.

The exterior is defined by its clean and premium appearance, tailored for today’s customer. While it pays homage to Jeep’s 81-year history, its lean profile, forward-tipped grille, and slim LED headlights give it a highly technical appearance. From the side, a lowered beltline and expansive glass allows for a more spacious cabin and increased visibility. Continuing with its modern theme, the rear is tailored and its lowered beltline results in an expansive rear window. The slim, high-set LED taillamps are designed to visually distribute the rear proportions and reinforce the technical aspect of the Grand Cherokee L.

Inside, the first-ever three-row Grand Cherokee offers spacious seating capacity seven. It also uplifts the Jeep experience to the premium space with premium quilted leather, open-pore wood trimming, and a contrasting black-and-beige interior. An all-black variant is available as an option, for those who want something more understated. Every touchpoint holds a mark of elegance, from the leather steering wheel, piano-gloss trim, to the interior ambient LED lighting feature.

Luxurious as the Grand Cherokee is, it’s made to be adaptable with its clean lines and practical, easy-to-navigate interior layout. A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is integrated into the center of the dashboard console that offers hands-free capability options, including wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Jeep brand understands that every journey should be as safe as it is comfortable and for that, the Grand Cherokee L comes with a driver assist system to ensure maximum monitoring capability with minimum distraction. As part of its standard equipment, there’s a head-up display right above the vehicle gauge cluster and a surround-view camera that shows a view of the exterior perimeter of the vehicle. An extra special feature is an interior rear-facing camera that conveniently provides a view of the second and third rows of the cabin, as well as a rearview mirror that only takes a flip of a tab and the mirror switches to a secondary screen.

The Philippines has waited since 2018 for the return of the Grand Cherokee nameplate and with the arrival of the Grand Cherokee L, it fills the market gap for a timeless, classically modern SUV that integrates individuality and family. Priced at P 5,490,000, it’s Jeep’s most luxurious SUV—a paradigm for a continuing legacy that holds the benchmark for vehicles that are as multi-faceted as the people who drive them, thriving as they do, and supporting them through every new road they take in their lives.
