MOVE IT sets a new motorcycle taxi standard with its new app

Homegrown motorcycle taxi app MOVE IT has been in the country since 2019 and learned a lot from the riding public over the years. All those lessons have culminated in a much improved app that they think will set a new standard for motorcycle taxis in the Philippines. They worked with Grab in the new MOVE IT app to deliver a better customer experience in all areas.

“Our enhanced app is a timely response to the evolving needs of passengers and rider-partners. Through our enhanced app, our rider-partners will benefit from improved efficiency, enabling them to earn more, while our passengers will enjoy a user-friendly and more intuitive interface, ensuring seamless and convenient MC taxi experiences,” said Wayne Jacinto, General Manager of MOVE IT.

Among their improvements in the new app, the 99.95% uptime is the most noteworthy. They guarantee seamless booking even at peak hours as they fulfill their commitment for an uninterrupted service. Night time booking though, remains to be seen.

Safety was also a key concern for MOVE IT especially now that there are offenses posted online where riders are trying to message or flirt with customers that have already finished the trip. The new app removes the need to divert the call to the phone’s default calling service and instead, it has an in-app ‘voice over internet protocol’ or VOIP that ensures privacy and convenience. This means that the rider won’t see the number of the customer, and vice versa.

They’re also introducing a new Share-My-Ride feature where customers can share their ride with someone else, so they can also monitor the customer’s trip. There’s also a 24/7 Safety Center for emergency assistance and other concerns, giving peace of mind to users. Payments are also improved as they now accept cashless payments in the form of debit/credit cards, and are currently working on having more digital wallets onboard.

As for riders, the new app has been integrated with GrabMaps and Navigation. This is based on Grab’s extensive data locally that riders can contribute to, giving all riders a real-time update on traffic conditions, road blockings, re-routings, and more. It also helps in precise location pins for pick-up and drop-off.

But if you’re concerned that this is a case of Grab vs Uber before, where drivers are just jumping ship from one to another, MOVE IT set its eyes on a different target. Instead of poaching riders from its rivals, they are doing onboarding campaigns on habal-habal riders. They give them training, tools and skills to be better in providing a 2-wheel service while also supporting them with better commission rates, insurance packages, and exclusive deals on essential gear for riders.

The new MOVE IT app is now available in iOS App Store and Google Play Store for free. They are abiding by the rules set by the government so operation is limited to Metro Manila only. Check their Facebook page for promos on your next trip!
