AC Motors has been busy ever since they took over the distributorship of BYD here in the Philippines. Apart from the re-introduction of the brand, they inaugurated their largest dealership yet in Quezon Avenue, and last month they flaunted their offerings at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, including this latest offering.
Now BYD Philippines officially launches the first car under AC Motors, the all-new BYD Atto 3. This 5 seater crossover starts at PHP 1,598,000 which falls in the range of some hybrids here in the Philippines. It has two variants called Dynamic and Premium, the latter shown in this article.
The Atto 3 is a front-wheel drive EV crossover with 150 Kw of power and 310 Nm of instant torque. They have different capacities with the Dynamic having 49.92 kWh while the Premium has 60.48. This gives them different performance numbers as the Dynamic can go 0-100kph at 7.9s, with 410 km of range. Meanwhile, the Premium can do the same speed run at 7.3s and is capable of 480 km on a single charge. Both models come with a Vehicle to Load function and CCS2 charging port but the Dynamic has a 70kW capacity, while the Premium can go for 80kW.
Unlike the earlier offerings of BYD, the Atto 3 looks more contemporary from the outside. It maintained a metal bar as a grille despite the lack of air intake in that area, as well as fog light housings even though there aren’t any. In a way, it makes the Atto 3 easier on the eyes which is perfect for those who aren’t ready for that minimalist EV look.
BYD deviates from the norm once you’re at the side profile thanks to its modern wheel design. There’s also a special accent on the C-pillar which is reminiscent of waves on the sea. This deviation continues at the rear thanks to the taillight. Its underside is sloping towards the lightbar that runs across the tailgate, emphasizing the shapely rear end.
Standard amenities include LED headlights with Follow-Me-Home function, LED DRL, and LED light bar together with heated power folding side mirrors. The higher trim seen in the pics has additional panoramic sunroof, Adaptive Front Lighting System, and bigger 18-inch wheels. It must also be noted that the tailgate is only electronically unlocked, and not powered.
The interior of the Atto 3 is unique with its vertical slats on the corner air vents, center console, and rear air vents. There’s an interplay of colors with navy blue, creamy white, and silver all over the cabin. Those who are particular with their sunroof covers will appreciate the solid cover for the glass and its gray finish.
BYD’s signature rotating touchscreen is present for both variants in a 12.8-inch footprint. Apple CarPlay is available in wired mode while Android Auto can be wireless. This is accompanied by a 5-inch gauge cluster, 6-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, Type-A and Type-C ports are present in both rows, wireless phone charger, 12v sockets, and automatic aircon.
Safety bits are plenty for the two variants of the Atto 3. Both will come with Front and Side Airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, Auto Hold, Rear Sensors, and Cruise Control.
Most of the price difference between the two seems to have gone into this area as the Premium has more safety items. It has additional Side Curtain Airbag, 360-camera system, Front Sensors, Stop and Go Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist.
The all-new BYD Atto 3 will be available in 4 colors – Surf Blue as seen in the photos here, Parkour Red, Boulder Grey, and Ski White. The Dynamic trim is at PHP 1,598,000 with 410 km of range, while the Premium is at PHP 1,798,000 with 480 km of range.
