There are many considerations in choosing a vehicle, more so now in the era of electrification. If you’re on the lookout for the safest offering in the market, the Volvo EX30 should be on the top of your list. This battery-electric subcompact EV crossover retails for P2,990,000 and along with that is the brand’s signature top-tier safety features, and more.
The new Volvo EX30 features a sleek yet minimalist look on its exterior. The T-shaped DRL adorn the front fascia that also cleverly hides the headlights. There’s no grille to house the signature Volvo logo and instead, only a small air intake by the lower lip of the front bumper.
Volvo took minimalism to Tesla levels in the cabin by having most controls in the massive vertical touchscreen. There isn’t even an instrument cluster by the steering wheel anymore. They went as far as removing any electronic control on the doors that in exchange, gave them space for cubby holes.
Under the massive touchscreen are wireless chargers and below that is a hidden under-floor with doors. There’s a pull-out storage in the center console while behind it are a few buttons for the rear windows, USB ports, and another wireless charger. There’s a Harman Kardon sound system and Google integration for the infotainment system.
A mixture of soft-touch materials were utilized in the cabin, resulting in a very premium feel. Most of these were made from renewable and recycled materials for a more sustainable production. This is in addition to the 25% recycled aluminum used on the whole car, along with 17% recycled steel and 17% recycled plastics. They even went as far as having the Volvo EX30 made in facilities with renewable energy to embody the brand’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
Powering the EX30 is a single electric motor that puts out 272 horsepower and can go up to 476 kilometers on a single charge. It also goes from 0-100 kph in a mere 5.3 seconds.
Of course, safety isn’t overlooked in the EX30. It comes with Volvo’s Pilot Assist system that manages speed, distance, and steering. There’s also Driver Attention Monitoring that looks out for signs of fatigue or distraction and ensures the driver remains focused on the road. It also has a Collision Avoidance System that aside from warning and braking, can also steer the car away to make your daily drive safe.
The new Volvo EX30 is the first car to be launched under Hariphil Asia Resources Inc (HARI), the brand’s new distributor here in the Philippines.
“We are proud to bring the world of Volvo to Filipino customers,” said HARI Vice Chair, President, and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo. “Our mission is to make Volvo’s innovative and environmentally conscious vehicles accessible, starting with the remarkable EX30.”
Volvo aims to have 90-100% of its global sales volume consist of electrified cars while reducing CO2 emissions per vehicle by up to 75% by 2030.
“The EX30 is just the beginning. Volvo’s electrified lineup ensures we’re not only addressing modern-day mobility challenges but also contributing to a better, greener future for everyone,” said Perez-Agudo.
