The new all-electric Porsche Macan presented at the 20th Zobel Cup

Porsche Philippines recently unveiled the new all-electric Macan during the most prestigious event in the polo season, the Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup, recently held at the Manila Polo Club.

Porsche Philippines has been supporting the Zobel Cup for 20 years.

“With the introduction of the new all-electric Porsche Macan, we have doubled our product lineup of fully electric vehicles. This charges up our range of offerings and gives discerning consumers a complete array of powertrain options to choose from — fully electric, hybrid, or combustion engine,” says Roberto Coyiuto III, President and CEO of Porsche Philippines.

Currently heading the new all-electric Macan model range in the Philippines is the Macan Turbo. This top version generates 639 hp and 1,130 Nm of torque from two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors that send power to the front and rear axles. With this output, the Macan Turbo guarantees exhilarating performance as it is able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.

Complementing the top Macan Turbo model is the new all-electric Macan 4. Also equipped with two motors and an all-wheel drive system, the Macan 4 produces 408 hp and 650 Nm of torque. It can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds.

The new all-electric Macan has an 800-volt technology, guaranteeing fast charging times. With a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes.

This year’s traditional parade of cars features the new all-electric Porsche Macan.

Charging via AC at up to 11 kW is possible with household wall boxes. Additionally, energy can be recuperated via the new Macan’s electric motors.

With a fully charged battery, the new all-electric Macan Turbo can travel up to 591 kilometers while the Macan 4 is capable of covering as much as 613 kilometers (both according to WLTP testing).

Set to join the Macan Turbo and Macan 4 at a later date is the new all-electric Macan, the product lineup’s rear-wheel drive model. The Macan is equipped with a single motor that delivers 360 hp and 563 Nm of torque to the rear axle. Among the model family, the Macan boasts of the longest driving range, capable of reaching an impressive WLTP-rated 641 kilometers on a single charge.

Purposeful design

The new all-electric Macan is clearly recognizable as part of the Porsche model family, thanks to the crisp lines and distinct proportions that hallmark Porsche’s design DNA. This brand signature has been further developed and optimally adapted to the requirements of an electric vehicle.

With design articulating its purpose, the new all-electric Macan further establishes itself as the sports car in its segment. Short overhangs, a wheelbase longer than that of the previous model, a slightly sloping hood, and muscular fenders give the model dynamism even when it is stationary.

Also contributing to this are the unmistakable Porsche flyline, raked coupe-like window silhouette, frameless doors, and the side blades that have been a styling signature of the model.

The new all-electric Macan’s headlights are split into two parts. The flat upper light units with four-point daytime running lights are embedded in the fenders and emphasize the width of the vehicle. The main headlight modules are placed lower on the front end. At the rear, the Porsche logo sits in the center of the sculptural 3D taillight strip.

As the flagship model, the Macan Turbo has additional aerodynamic and design elements that help raise its performance and aesthetics. Among the premium items that can be fitted to the vehicle are matrix LED headlights, Porsche crest and trim in Turbonite, adaptive sport seats, and 22-inch wheels.

Sporty handling dynamics

A low seating position and center of gravity, combined with precise steering, further give the new all-electric Macan the feeling of a sports car. Bolstering this are numerous other systems.

The model’s two electric motors are controlled in real time. The electronic Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) operates about five times faster than a conventional all-wheel drive system, and can respond to wheel slip within 10 milliseconds.

In addition, the new all-electric Macan’s all-wheel drive distribution is governed by the selected driving program. The modes interact with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system featuring shock absorbers with two-valve technology. These expand the spectrum between ride comfort and control. An adaptive air suspension with leveling system and height adjustment adds to the versatility of the driving programs.

Seamless technologies

With the electrification of the Macan, Porsche has introduced a completely new display and control system into the model. The Porsche Driver Experience in the new all-electric Macan offers a mix of digital and analog elements, including an instrument cluster with a 12.6-inch curved display, a 10.9-inch central display, and a 10.9-inch passenger display.

A new feature is the ambient lighting with a communication light. Depending on the situation, it provides information or warnings — such as when greeting the driver, during charging, or in conjunction with the driver assistance systems.

The Porsche Driver Experience’s upgraded design comprises a “welcome” animation, an even more modern look and feel, and the new Themes app that adjusts the background color of the displays and the ambient lighting to match the exterior color.

Included as standard, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in the new all-electric Macan takes computing performance to a new level.

Unmistakably Porsche cabin

The new all-electric Macan’s interior is unmistakably Porsche, where the driver and passengers sit lower than in the previous model. Rear passengers are afforded more legroom.

Facing them is a cockpit with an integrated black panel running across its entire width. The sloping shape of the center console heightens the impression of a low and performance-focused seating position. Expansive window openings result in an airy feel in the cabin.

Like in the previous model, the new all-electric Macan is a performance-oriented SUV that is highly practical for daily use, fitted with high-quality equipment, and is spacious. Electrification has led to increased luggage space behind the rear seat — up to 540 liters. When the rear seat is folded, space expands to 1,348 liters. Adding to this is the “frunk” under the hood that has a capacity of 84 liters.

The new all-electric Macan Turbo and Macan 4 are now available at Porsche Philippines showrooms in Greenhills, Bonifacio Global City, Westgate Alabang, and SM Seaside City Cebu. For inquiries, please call (02) 8703 6846.
