Geely, one of the first Chinese brands to gain traction in the Philippines, is now formally operating as a subsidiary directly reporting to Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC). Geely Motor Philippines, as the new corporate entity is officially called, marked its relaunch showcasing not just its new models, but also outlined its improved operations in the country.
“Innovation and inclusivity are at the heart of Geely’s operations,” said Will Wan, president of Geely Motor Philippines. “Geely will not only be making cars, but we are also creating a better way of living. We aim to bring safety, technology, innovative thinking, and cutting-edge design to Filipino users in a more accessible way. We are enabling them to explore new horizons, possibilities, and perspectives to see the world in full.”
Geely promises to launch four new models in 2025—one for each quarter. At the brand relaunch, the company revealed the new Coolray and Emgrand as well as previewed its first-ever EV, the EX5.
The EX5 marks the overseas debut of the GEA platform, Geely’s new global intelligent new energy architecture. The exterior design emphasizes aerodynamic efficiency with its blanked-out grille and flush door handles. All in all, it has a coefficient of drag at 0.269—significantly lower than the competition. Aesthetically, it features sophisticated LED head- and taillights and 235/50 R 19 tires.
The GEA platform supports various powertrain layouts be it battery electric, range extended electric, and plug-in hybrid, but for the EX5, it uses Geely’s “11-in-1” electric drive. This ultra-compact motor system weighs in at just 79.8 kilograms and puts out 217 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque driving the front wheels. 0 to 100 km/h, Geely says, is done in just 6.9 seconds.

Meanwhile, power is supplied by the Geely Short Blade Battery. Compared to other lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, Geely says it offers 6.7 percent higher battery density and up to 52 percent better charging rate. With a 60.22-kW size, it can go up to 430 kilometers between charges. It’s also much safer too, passing Geely’s “six extreme tests” with all battery parameters remaining normal.
The EX5 also marks the global debut of the GEEA 3.0—Geely’s latest electrical and electronics architecture. This allows it to receive the brand’s first complete advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) aligned with Level 2+ self-driving. Moreover, it powers the Flyme Auto infotainment system which integrates various vehicle functions within its 15.4-inch center touchscreen, including Apple CarPlay. The high-performance chipset also offers faster responses and a clearer visuals.
Inside, the EX5 offers a minimalist cabin design with flexible seating options. This includes the front passenger seat being completely reclinable to meet the rear bench creating a makeshift bed. And thanks to its purpose-built EV platform, it has a flat rear floor which happens to integrate a 14-liter storage box nestled at the base of the seats. Open the tailgate, and it can accommodate items up to 1.1 meters in width. Total cargo capacity is rated at 1,887 liters with the rear seats down.

The two models underpinned by Geely’s BMA architecture have been updated. The new Coolray packs a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 172 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. This makes it faster than ever before with the 0 to 100 km/h sprint taking just 7.6 seconds. It also sports the new “Energy Storm” design language with revised LED headlights, Tomahawk-style 18-inch wheels, a twin spoiler, and quad exhaust tips. Inside, it offers a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 12.3-inch display screen with Apple CarPlay, and a new shift-by-wire gear selector.

Meanwhile, the Emgrand drops the controversial gray/blue nautical-inspired interior in favor of an all-black one. It also gets a new 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. Powering it is a normally-aspirated and direct-injected 1.5-liter with 122 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. The sole variant, the Emgrand Luxury, uses a CVT with six simulated gears for improved mileage.
The Geely EX5 pricing will be revealed soon, but Geely dealers across the country are already accepting reservations with fees as low as P 10,000. Reserve one and get P 110,000 off whatever the final suggested retail price would be.
Geely Motor Philippines also used this opportunity to realign their pricing to make them more competitive. Their line-up, now composed of the GX3 Pro, Emgrand, and Coolray are priced as follow:

On top of that, Geely is offering a special promotion where users can enjoy an even larger discount of P90,000 by placing a P10,000 deposit before February 28. For the Emgrand, early buyers can take advantage of a P40,000 discount.
Geely says that new versions of the Azkarra and Okavango are also coming soon (or at least their replacements). They will also introduce their very own range of Plug-In Hybrids (PHEVs) as well.
Acknowledging that parts availability and aftersales service were the biggest headaches for Geely customers, the brand’s new 4,700-square-meter parts facility is now online and distributing parts to the more than 30,000 owners and 30 Geely dealerships across the country.
Operating from Monday to Saturday, the center utilizes air express for urgent orders and land or sea transport for regular and stocking orders. The inventory includes a comprehensive range of parts, such as maintenance items, warranty components, body repair and paint parts, lubricants, accessories, merchandise, special service tools, and consumables.

Wan also said that two other parts warehouses—one in Cebu and another in Mindanao will go online by the second quarter of 2025.
Geely also announced a new customer initiative called, “Geely Go.” The program prioritizes Geely Owners by seamlessly connecting resources from sales, aftersales, and brand segments to uplift ownership at every step. Furthermore, it will form part of a global user community based on smartly connected user experience.
The first associated program with Geely Go is the Geely Refer and Earn activity. Each time an existing Geely owner introduces a new customer to a Geely dealership before March 31, both parties can receive a maintenance voucher worth 2,000. If the new user pays a down payment for a new car, this maintenance voucher can be further increased by an additional P2,000.
