The Mazda MX-5 (also known as the Miata or Roadster in Japan) has always allowed people to enjoy the joys of open-top driving at an affordable price tag, cementing it as one of the most popular sports cars not only in our country but also around the world.
The humble little roadster recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, where a fitting special edition also debuted at the Mazda Fan Festa 2024 at Fuji Speedway last October.

Mazda Philippines couldn’t have picked a better time to debut the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition at the sixth “Sports Cars for a Cause” event held at Bonifacio Global City last Sunday, February 23.

Our market will only get 15 units, priced at P2,500,000, and only available as a Soft Top with a six-speed manual transmission.

What makes this special is that the car is finished in the special Takuminuri color, Artisan Red, contrasted by a light tan canvas roof and bright silver 17-inch wheels. Apart from these and the special serial number on the rear fender, the exterior is based on the recent “ND3” update with new adaptive LED headlights and taillights.

The interior is upholstered in tan Nappa leather, with special “35th-anniversary” embroidery on the headrests and tan floor mats. Matching tan carpeting and interior trim panels complete the look.
You can also find color-matched Artisan Red accents within the air vents and upper door panels.

Of course, this comes with luxuries such as a nine-speaker Bose sound system, an 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto support, two USB-C ports, automatic climate control, and the i-Activsense suite of safety systems with features such as front and rear automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, and lane departure warning.

Of course, the powertrain is still the same 2.0-liter naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G engine producing 181 hp and 205 Nm, all being sent to the rear wheels. This also comes with Bilstein dampers, an asymmetric limited-slip differential, and a special track mode for dynamic stability control.
