Prince Harry and Meghan go for Audi e-tron

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, were recently seen arriving at an engagement with youth ambassadors aboard their new all-electric Audi e-tron SUV. The royal couple used the e-tron to make a surprise appearance at a One Young World roundtable concerning initiatives on gender equality and female empowerment.

Prince Harry’s and Meghan’s switch to an electric vehicle is viewed as an effort supporting their environmental campaigns. They have owned the e-tron since June.

The e-tron, Audi’s first all-electric SUV, is a pure battery electric vehicle that is sporty and powerful, yet still efficient and practical for everyday driving. The all-wheel drive quattro model packs two lithium-ion batteries that can store 95kWh of energy, allowing the vehicle a range of over 400 kilometers. With 561Nm of torque, the two electric motors can propel the electric SUV from zero to 100kph in 6.6 seconds in near silence.

The e-tron has earned the 2019 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ rating — the highest awarded by the US safety organization. Evaluations by the IIHS showed the e-tron’s body and structure excelled in safety performance, with the model’s standard Matrix Design LED headlights, standard automatic emergency braking and Audi pre sense basic, among other features, helping the electric SUV to achieve the IIHS’s top safety score.
