San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has assigned priority lanes on the South Luzon Expressway to ensure that emergency vehicles and delivery trucks would be able to quickly pass through the expressway amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The conglomerate said that companies seeking to use the priority lanes are advised to prepare government-required cargo documents in order to ensure faster processing.

“We are doing this to guarantee that essential deliveries reach their destination as smoothly and quickly as possible,” SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said.

“These same lanes can also be used by emergency health vehicles to quickly get to places in need of medical attention,” he added.

The company said that the Philippine National Police’s inspection teams are stationed before the southbound lane of Susana Heights exit and the Alabang-Filinvest Interchange right before the Alabang northbound exit.

SMC Tollways earlier announced the implementation of various safety measures in a bid to protect both motorists and its employees.

These include the availability of alcohol dispensers at all toll plazas and SMC Tollways facilities, the wearing of face masks and surgical gloves by tellers and traffic personnel, and the sanitation of toll booths and patrol vehicles before and after each shift.

To prevent contamination and faster traffic flow, the toll company is encouraging motorists to use the RFID facility to reduce the chance of traffic buildup and ensure smooth traffic flow going in and out of Metro Manila.
