Pinay helper becomes millionaire after surprise gift from Australian auto vlogger

A Pinay helper recently got the surprise of a lifetime after her generous Australian vlogger boss gifted her with a ‘lifetime savings of cash.’

Heartwarming viral video

In a viral Facebook video posted last Sep. 30, automotive vlogger Alex Hirschi, a.k.a Supercar Blondie, surprised hardworking Pinay employee Avelina Manuel with a special gift.

“A very special employee of mine has been saving up to send her son to college. I want to take this weight off her shoulders with this surprise. Thank you so much for all your hard work Avelina,” said the caption of the video.

Avelina has been an overseas worker for more than 10 years and dreams of sending her soon to college. Knowing this, Alex decided to prank her by pretending to film a documentary with all her employees but in reality, it was all a ruse to surprise the Pinay helper.

“This is an entire college fund for a very special employee of mine. She thinks we’re filming a documentary. So all my employees are going to come through this door for their ‘interviews’ but that’s all for show. It’s actually all about her and this surprise,” Alex said on the video while holding thick wads of cash stuffed inside a silver gray box.

Life-changing gift

“Alright, I’m about to give her the cash. I just want to say she means so much to me. I couldn’t do what I do today without her. She’s been working for me for 2.5 years and she does everything, she runs around town doing errands, she does the PA and admin work. She even cleans the office and she makes food for us all. She even takes care of our dogs when we travel so she is so integral to the Supercar Blondie family,” Alex shares.

In the middle of the supposed on cam interview, Alex came from behind to give Avelina a bouquet and the box full of cash. The Pinay was immediately brought to tears. “I’m a millionaire, sir! I’m a millionaire. Oh my goodness!” cried Avelina.

“Actually this is not a documentary. Everyone’s interviews have been faked today. This is actually a video to appreciate you because we love you so much and you’ve done such amazing work for us over the last two years! This is enough money for you to send your son to college or to help you build the house that you want back home when you retire,” Alex explained.

The four-minute heartwarming video has since gathered more than 1.7 million reactions, 206,ooo shares and 88,000 comments.

Avelina’s backstory

According to the “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” episode aired on Sunday, Avelina graduated with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics but wasn’t able to take the board exam so she decided to work in Hong Kong for eight years. She then moved to Saudi Arabia but her employer was abusive so she transferred to Dubai in 2017 to work as a caregiver. Eventually, Avelina was hired as an office clerk for Alex’s family.

Working for Alex has been a blessing for Avelina, who left behind two boys in Lingayen Pangasinan. The older sibling already has a family of his own while the younger brother, CJ, is currently studying in college. He thanked her mom’s employer for the substantial gift.

“Maraming salamat po dun sa nag-sponsor sa akin dahil makakapag-aral na po ako sa college” CJ said.

Avelina wrote a card back to Alex thank the Australian for her generosity. “I’m very glad that you are here in my life right now and giving me such a nice job and treating me like your family,” the card read.
