Shell inks three-year deal with TVS Motor to strengthen support for 2-wheel motorists

In 2019, around eight million motorcycles and tricycles were registered in the Philippines, heavily outweighing the number of 4-wheel vehicles that ply the roads. But despite being the majority of total motor vehicles in the country, motorcycle riders don’t get the same attention as car or truck owners do.

To ensure that more 2-wheel motorists get the fuels and service fit for their needs, Shell inked a three-year partnership with global motorcycle and parts manufacturer TVS Motor last October 23, bolstering the level of support that motorcycle riders can get on their journeys.

(L-R) October 30, Shell V-Power Brand Manager Jerome David, Retail Marketing Manager Arvin Obmerga, and Retail VP & General Manager Randy del Valle from Shell’s retail management team signs partnership with TVS Motor’s Chief Representative Venkatachalapathy Swaminathan, Country Manager Vaibhav Srivastava, and Dealer Development Consultant Benedict Martin Arreola.

“The number of two-wheel motorists in the Philippines is growing at an incredible pace, and that means that the industry has to start paying more attention to them by adjusting our products and services to better meet their needs,” Pilipinas Shell Vice President and General Manager for Retail Randy Del Valle said. “Many of them, private bike owners and professional bikers alike, have been instrumental in restoring mobility to the Philippines. They need our support to sustain them during their trips, especially because they are among the few motorists who can move with ease during the pandemic.”

From mopeds to racing-inspired motorcycles, TVS Motor is one of the leading two- and three-wheeled vehicle manufacturers in the world. Exporting to over 60 countries and with over 1000 branches in the Philippines alone, the company has a long-standing history in using cutting-edge technology and engineering to build the latest in two-wheelers.

This is the first partnership that Pilipinas Shell has signed with a two-wheel manufacturer, signifying Shell’s move to strengthen it’s support for motorcycle and tricycle riders.

“The two-wheel market is picking up well, I would say that the market is coming back to normal, where we left it in March,” TVS Philippines Country Manager Vaibhav Srivastava said. “The entire motive of having this partnership is to give every bit of value that we can to the end-users and provider of fuels.”

Until Oct. 30, 2023, the partnership gives customers a Shell Go+ kit containing 1,400 points when they purchase 2-wheel or 3-wheel products from any of TVS Motor’s stores nationwide.

Shell Go+ is Shell’s new digital-first loyalty program that allows users to earn and redeem points through an app, when making purchases from any of Shell’s retail stations.

“We’re looking forward to broadening the reach of assistance we can extend to two-wheel motorists across the country,” Shell Retail Marketing Manager Arvin Obmerga said. “They represent the largest segment of the motoring market in the Philippines, and we feel that it’s time for them to get more care and attention from the fuel providers that they visit everyday.”

The points can be used when they gas up at Shell for fuels like Shell V-Power with DYNAFLEX Technology to improve acceleration, make engine performance more efficient, and provide an overall smoother ride. As Shell’s Brand Manager for Fuels Jerome David describes this breakthrough fuel, “Shell V-Power makes motorcycles powerful and, to date, is our best performance fuel for these vehicles.”

TVS motorcycle riders who register for the program will also get personalized offers from Shell Go+, such as deals on Shell Advance motorcycle oils, which provide complete engine protection so bikers can stay on the road longer, as well as other items in Shell Select convenience stores, and it’s network of partners to such as Motolite, SM, Lazada, Shoppee, and Jollibee to name a few.

The partnership with TVS Motor is only one aspect of Shell’s thrust to ensure that 2-wheel motorists get more care and support. Recently, Shell also launched its Shell V-Power dedicated biker fuel lanes at its stations. Designed to meet motorcycle-specific needs, the biker lanes provide free cleaning, oil checks, and consultation on motorcycle maintenance to keep customers’ motorcycles in top shape, without having to wait in lanes behind cars to fill up.

Del Valle added, “At Shell, we want to ensure that all of these riders are taken care of while on the road. Whether it be through our premium fuels or our advanced lubricants, we want to ensure that their engines last longer and ride better.”
