Hyundai IONIQ Electric takes charge at recent C! Magazine Awards

The first virtual C! Magazine awards saw the Hyundai IONIQ Electric charging to the top of the awards’ newest category – electric vehicles (EV) – keeping up with global trend for sustainable mobility and adding on to the string of honors that Ioniq has been receiving globally.

Hyundai IONIQ Electric bested other EVs from Chery, Porsche, and Jaguar during the virtual awards.

“We are happy that C!’ has added sustainable mobility to its honored criteria of affordability and usability,” responded HARI president and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo. “Hyundai remains at the forefront of accelerating the world’s transition towards clean and sustainable mobility, introducing a new way of living and better journeys in the New Normal. With IONIQ, affordability, sustainability, and style are combined to create cars that meet all our needs, with no compromise.”

The Hyundai IONIQ Electric, which was showcased in last year’s Manila International Autoshow, boasts zero emissions, smart aerodynamics, and sets the standard in electric drive technology. It has an estimated range of over 373 kilometers powered by a high-efficiency, high-power permanent magnet-type electric motor which produces 136 PS. It has all the bells and whistles including a multimedia information center, drive mode selector, electronic gear shift, six airbags, and 357 liter luggage capacity.

During the no-frills virtual awards ceremony, C! President, Founding Editor, and Editorial Director Kevin C. Limjoco reiterated the publication’s commitment to carry on with their instrumented testing procedures and conformity with current safety protocols. “This year and like every year before it, consumers are the king. Consumers have a lot more choices… We know what we want to buy and what’s important to us,” said Limjoco.

Last August, Hyundai launched the IONIQ as Hyundai Motor’s new dedicated EV brand with the vision: You don’t drive electric. You live electric. IONIQ reinforces the company’s commitment to clean mobility and reflects its ongoing transformation as a Smart Mobility Solution Provider. IONIQ aims to offer customer centric EV experiences centered on connected lifestyle solutions in line with Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’. Under IONIQ, Hyundai Motor plans to introduce three new dedicated EV models over the next four years with more innovative models to follow, including IONIQ 5, a mid-sized CUV, IONIQ 6, a sedan, and IONIQ 7, a large SUV.

“With our full line-up of Hybrid/EV vehicles that fuse high-performance, technology and safety in bold packages, this award further inspires us to put Hyundai at the forefront of this exciting and innovative space. We believe that this is the future of the auto industry and Hyundai is set to take the next big step,” Agudo ended.
