Members of Club Xpander Philippines (CXP) continue to come together to help affected fellow club members and residents of barangays in flood-ravaged Cagayan and Isabela provinces in the wake of Typhoon Ulysses.
The CXP relief expedition, composed of club members based in the two provinces, collected donations sent from Metro Manila members for repackaging and distribution to flood-affected towns in the region.
One of the locations hardest hit by flooding after typhoon Ulysses was Sta. Maria municipality in Isabela province.
CXP members organized a relief drive to the area last November 25th. The club was able to provide a total of Php 60,000 worth of food items, goods and pre-loved clothing donated by its members.
Mayor Hilario Pagauitan of Sta. Maria municipality in Isabela province, presented a certificate of appreciation to the club for its galant and generous efforts to help residents of the area.
According to Jimmy Virador, founding Chairman of the Board of CXP, club members immediately responded to the club officers’ call for help with pledges and donations. The relief drive was conducted in lieu of the club’s scheduled second Christmas Charity Fun Run to Subic.
“The initial objective of this fund drive was to help our co-members and the people of Cagayan and Isabela who were badly affected by the typhoon,” shares Virador. He adds, “Since one of the group’s slogans is CXP CARES, the members never had second thoughts of helping or supporting one another.”
Boxes of mineral water, canned sardines and tuna, noodles, coffee and sacks of rice were loaded onto CXP member-owned Mitsubishi Xpanders and support trucks for delivery and distribution to flood victims. To address material losses of flood-affected residents, CXP members likewise sent clothing and repacked food items for distribution in various districts and barangays in the two provinces.
The large space of the Xpander proved ideal for the significant number of relief goods the club was able to amass and the people who brought to the affected towns.
According to Virador, “We realize that Club Xpander Philippines is more than just a car club or a group. We are a family that practices camaraderie, values and brotherhood. As demonstrated by our members’ efforts, CXP is a car club that truly cares.”
As one family of Mitsubishi Xpander owners, the two-year-old club has become a growing convergence of people from diverse backgrounds, who are all dedicated to enhancing the ownership experience of Mitsubishi’s top-selling 7-seat Multi-Purpose Vehicle.
