Geely flaunts its disruptors at MIAS Wired

Geely has been on a roll ever since they reentered the Philippine market last year after a long absence. Even the pandemic wasn’t able to slow them down as Coolrays kept rolling out of their showrooms and they unveiled two new models, namely the Azkarra and the Okavango. Now, get to see them in a different way at this year’s MIAS Wired that will happen online.

The Coolray is Geely’s first model in their return to the Philippines and provided Filipinos a tease of what to expect from the brand. Its distinct styling was paired with leather trim inside, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, and a turbocharged 1.5L engine that puts out 177hp and 255Nm of torque. Starting at P971,000, the Coolray set off Geely’s momentum in the local motoring scene.

Supposed to be unveiled at MIAS back in April, the Azkarra is Geely’s compact crossover that was the first to feature their mild-hybrid system. At 48V, the Electric Motor Synergy gives an additional 13hp and 45Nm of torque to the 1.5L turbo engine for a total of 190hp and 300Nm for their flagship crossover.

Apart from the powertrain, the Azkarra also has luxurious appointments like Nappa leather, a bigger panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen head unit that’s flush to the dashboard, soft-touch leather all over, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a full suite of safety features.

Geely also announced their arrival in the seven-seater market with their new Okavango. Building on the success of the Coolray and Azkarra, it combines tech features with space and comfort for the whole family. Its second row has individual seats for three passengers for a snug fit on long rides, while the third-row occupants have good space and their own air vents. All variants of the Okavango will come with Geely’s 48V Electric Motor Synergy system.

Starting at P1.2M, the Geely Okavango is the latest in Geely’s attempt to uppercut the market without skimping on features for their lineup.

See them all in a better view from the comfort of your home at the virtual Manila International Auto Show today until Dec. 20.
